Guest Update – PixelWho!


Welcome back to WHOlanta PixelWho!! Nathan Skreslet and Ly Cao will be returning to our con again this year, bringing both their amazing personalities and their stunning pixel recreations of the worlds of Doctor Who! Nathan, a graphic artist by trade, has done book cover designs for several Doctor Who short fiction anthologies and several episode and merchandise guides, as well as a series of novellas published by Telos books. PixelWho also provided artwork fora multi-level storyline in the BBC’s mobile app Doctor Who: Legacy. You’ll see Ly and Nathan at their table and on various panels. WHOlanta on Discussing Who!

WHOlanta’s R. Alan Siler appears on the new episode of Discussing Who and gives a little history of WHOlanta as well as a preview of this year’s convention! Also previewed is the new book Children of Time: The Companions of Doctor Who, and he drops some exclusive news about that as well! Guest Update: MARK MADDOX


MARK MADDOX makes a welcome return to WHOlanta in May! Mark is a well-known magazine illustrator. The three-time Rondo Award winner has done covers for Doctor Who Magazine, including their special edition The Art of Doctor Who. He’s also provided art for Screem Magazine (including the Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Universal Monsters, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and American Horror Story covers), Infinity Magazine, HorrorHound Magazine, Moonstone Publishing, Little Shoppe Of Horrors, Mad Scientist Magazine, Airship27 Books, and many others. Guest Update: KELLY YATES


We’re pleased to welcome KELLY YATES back to WHOlanta! Kelly is an incredibly talented artist and creator as well as being a pretty amazing gentleman. He is best known for his work on IDW’s and Titan’s Doctor Who comic books, especially Doctor Who: The Forgotten and Doctor Who: Prisoners of Time. He’s the designer of the Kawai’i Doctor Who characters which have been featured in numerous product lines from t-shirts to figurines. He also is the creator and artist of his own comic book series, Amber Atoms and MonstHer. When Kelly is not on panels, he’ll be at his table selling prints of his work; drop by, say hello, and pick up some art for your wall! Three New Guests


Three guests to announce today, all of them new to the WHOlanta family! Stephen Webb and Clay Dockery are the editors of the new anthology Why I Geek: An Anthology of Fandom Origin Stories. The book covers fandoms as varied as Star Trek, Star Wars, Twin Peaks, My Little Pony, The West Wing, Baseball and of course Doctor Who, explaining why we love the things we love and how we express that love. The two are also co-founders of Coal Hill, Inc, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing fandom by creating fun and innovative podcasts, music, art, and interactive experiences focused on making geek culture educational, involved and inspirational.

Joining them is Cat Smith,  an actor, a musician, a cosplayer, yoga instructor, and general nuisance (General Nuisance *salute*). As an author, she is a contributor to the new charity anthology Why I Geek: An Anthology of Fandom Origin Stories. Cat will be bringing her unique musical stylings and her joie de vivre to WHOlanta, performing, appearing on panels, signing copies of her CD and leading yoga workshops.

The three will be appearing together in our Main Programming hall for a panel all about Why I Geek: An Anthology of Fandom Origin Stories and signing copies afterward.

Announced at DragonCon: WHOlanta 2018 will be blessed by the extraordinary talent that is Director RACHEL TALALAY, fresh off of her stint as director of the Capaldi-era of Doctor Who. Talalay directed the finales for all three of Peter Capaldi’s seasons: “Dark Water” and “Death in Heaven” for Series Eight, “Heaven Sent” and Hell Bent” for Series Nine, and “World Enough and Time” and “the Doctor Falls” for Series Ten. She has also completed work helming the 2018 Christmas episode and Capaldi swansong, “Twice Upon a Time.” She also has an impressive resume behind her — visit our Guests page to read more about her. She will be doing Q&As on our main stage each day and will be available for autographs and photo ops. This is going to be a rare opportunity to hear how Doctor Who is made from someone directly behind the camera. Don’t miss it!

Guest Announcement


She was unable to attend WHOlanta in 2017 but asked that we please invite her back for 2018, and honestly, how could we say no? We’re very pleased to say that LOUISE JAMESON will be joining us at WHOlanta next year! Louise, of course, is best-known for playing Leela in 1977-78 alongside Tom Baker as the Doctor in Seasons 14 and 15. She has also reprised Leela in numerous Big Finish productions, including new Fourth Doctor stories with Tom Baker and in the long-running political thriller Gallifrey, with Lalla Ward as Romana and John Leeson as K9. Louise will be doing autographs and photo-ops all weekend and will be doing Q&As on Saturday and Sunday. Don’t miss her talking about her remarkable career in film, television, and theatre.

Guest Announcement

guest-RobinBWe’re very pleased to welcome author Robin Burks for her first visit to WHOlanta! Robin is an entertainment writer, published author, avid con-goer and cosplayer. She currently writes for ScreenRant, The Things and Robin is also the author of a series of speculative fiction novels: Zeus, Inc.The Curse of Hekate; and Return of The Titans. In 2014, Indie Reader named the protagonist of that series, Alex Grosjean, as one of its Top Five Smart, Strong and Relatable Female Characters. Robin, who currently lives in Missouri with her five cats, loves all things French and has a serious obsession with Doctor Who. You’ll find Robin all around the convention, doing panels in our Literary, Costuming and Doctor Who tracks. She’ll be joining Moxie Magnus, Courtland Lewis, Joshua Wilson, Jennifer Hartshorn and the good folks from RetroTV and Earth Station Who Podcast.
